My teaching and research focus centers on U.S. and global migration, food, gender, and consumer and material culture, and on transnational and interdisciplinary approaches. Since 2011 I have worked in the History Department at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where I am currently Associate Professor. At ODU, I teach U.S. history courses from a global perspective, U.S. and global migration and food history courses, and historical methods. Mihalache (University of Toronto), will be published by Bloomsbury Academic in early 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am also an executive editor of two peer-review history publications: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/journals\/rfgf20\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/journals\/rfgf20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Food History<\/a><\/em> (Taylor &amp; Francis) and <a href=\"https:\/\/brill.com\/display\/serial\/SGMH#:~:text=The%20peer%2Dreviewed%20book%20series,world%20and%20movements%20between%20them.\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/brill.com\/display\/serial\/SGMH#:~:text=The%20peer%2Dreviewed%20book%20series,world%20and%20movements%20between%20them.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Studies in Global Migration History<\/a> book series (Brill).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My academic career began at the University of Notre Dame, where I received my B.A. in American Studies and Journalism.
