She holds a Ph.D. in Modeling and Simulation Engineering, an M.S. in Computational and Applied Mathematics, and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics all from Old Dominion University.\u00a0 She was previously a Research Assistant Professor in Digital Shipbuilding at <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmaritime.org\/\">Virginia Digital Maritime Center<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Old Dominion University&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/oduinnovate.org\/\">Office of Enterprise Research and Innovation<\/a> and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics &amp; Statistics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Katherine Smith is an Assistant Professor in Engineering Technology in the Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University.
