Major duties and responsibilities: Administering educational programs focusing on innovative writing instruction, managing the national and local sponsored budgets, and directing members of the Tidewater Writing Project Leadership Team and Teacher Consultants.

  • Applied and secured annual funding from the National Writing Project
  • Led the leadership team members and teacher consultants in designing, marketing, executing, and evaluating on-going professional development programs.
  • Collaborated with six public school systems to provide on-going teacher training on writing instruction.
  • Launched Kids’ summer camp for writing in summer 2014 and increased the enrollment in summer 2016.
  • Each semester, I planned, organized, and led an open institute. TWP provides teacher workshops on writing instruction to K-12 teachers for 10 hours from 2013 to Present
  • Hosted annual TWP Pre-Institute for K-12 Teachers.
  • Implemented new and continuing educational service activities including. With my leadership, the participants of the following activities have significantly increased: (1) Kids’ Writing Camp, (2) In-Service Workshops, (3) Invitational Summer Institutes, (4) Open Institutes and leadership activities, (5) Fundraising, and (6) Continuity teacher meetings.
  • Managed and balanced multiple TWP budget accounts: Program income account, ODU matching account, and funded account housed at the ODURF and TWP Ledger 1 account housed in the T& L Department.

 

2013-Present Supervised and lead the Tidewater Writing Project’s bi-monthly      executive leadership meeting and Teacher Consultants’ continuity meeting.

2016-Present  Co-coordinator of TESOL program:  With my colleague, Dr. Abha, I am working to strengthen the program and develop a new course, “TLED 675 English Language Learners in the PK-12 Classroom.” We will offer four challenging and practical courses where teachers can develop a foundation for linguistic awareness and second language acquisition, learn to adapt and develop instructional materials, administer and interpret assessments, and learn about support services for ELLs.

2013-Present As Director of Tidewater Writing Project (TWP), I am responsible for fund raising events, and planning and executing the Tidewater Writing Project’s revenue generating educational and professional development community programs in collaboration with the TWP Teacher Consultants.

  • Incresed the gifts and donations.
  • Increased the number of minority teacher consultants and leaders of the TWP.
  • Hosted TWP’s bimonthly site leadership team business meetings at local restaurants.
