I work with low temperature plasmas (ionized gases exhibiting gas temperatures at or around room temperature) and their applications in biology and medicine. Low temperature atmospheric pressure plasmas are sources of reactive species including reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) that can interact with biological matter and induce a range of effects such as oxidation of lipids and proteins, induction of DNA double strands breaks, and triggering biochemical signals to modify cell functions.  The following three videos provide more information.
