About Me

Charlie Kirkpatrick currently serves on the faculty at Old Dominion University’s Strome College of Business where he lectures on various technology related topics such as information literacy, research and IT Principles. He also serves at a Visiting Scholar at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce lecturing on mobile technology.  He is a member of McIntire’s MS in the Management of Information Technology (MS-MIT) Advisory Board.  Charlie is often invited as an “Executive on Grounds”, mentoring current program students and critiquing project proposals and executive communications.

A technology professional with 30+ years of progressive management experience., Charlie previously served as Vice President of Company Store Operations and for 11 years was Chief Information Officer at Liberty Tax, one of the largest publicly traded franchises in North America. Daily leadership responsibilities covered all aspects of technology leadership including information security, strategic planning, technical infrastructure, software development lifecycle management, project & portfolio management, networking and data center architecture. He is experienced in large vendor contract negotiations and management, as well as off-shore development.

Charlie is a former board member of tax industry trade groups CERCA and the Free File Alliance.
