Dr. Socha received his PhD in Communication at the University of Iowa. He has taught at Old Dominion University since 1989. He is a Professor of Communication, an ODU University Professor (for distinguished teaching), and the former and founding Director of the Graduate Program in Lifespan & Digital Communication. He was the founding Editor of the Journal of Family Communication (2000-2005) and is currently the founding Editor of the international book series: Lifespan Communication: Children, Families, and Aging. He is a leading national scholar in family communication, children’s communication, and most recently positive communication.
