Professional Services

Dr. Liu has actively contributed to her professional fields. She is the Chair of American Association of Geographers Remote Sensing Specialty Group. She is the associate editor-in-chief of Information Processing in Agriculture, editorial board member for Geocarto International, section board for MDPI Remote Sensing Urban Remote Sensing Section, and board member for Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment. She also makes significant contribution to numerous peer-reviewed journals as reviewer. She serves on the Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN) Advisory Board, a unit to facilitate the development and use of geospatial technologies throughout the state.

Dr. Liu is significantly involved in committees and activities at her university. She coordinates the GIS Certificate and Spatial Analysis in Coastal Environments Certificate programs. She has organized multiple geospatial technology sessions in the Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium at ODU. She has been the primary organizer of annual GIS Day on ODU campus since 2008. This event has been co-hosted with Hampton Roads GIS User Group, the City of Norfolk, and Virginia Space Grant Consortium.
