Successful field campaign this summer in Iceland! 8/7/2021
We had a great trip studying groundwater flow and geochemical cycling in Lake Sandvatn, a pro-glacial lake fed by the Langjökull glacier, the second largest ice-cap in Iceland. Our team was able to collect river, lake and groundwater samples with our sediment partners from NASA, JSC and Rice University.
We had some free time at the end to hike to the new volcano, Fagradalsfjall! Pictured below: PI Michael Thorpe (NASA JSC), Joe Tamborski and some local horses.
