Force Development Branch Head, Turkish Army, Ankara, Turkey, August 2013 – July 2015

  • Managed the requirement definition for all major IT projects of the Turkish Army from 2013 to 2015 within the PPBE (Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution) system.
  • Led teams and working groups of operational commanders and the technical Subject Matter Experts in the requirements definition process in Turkish Army HQ.

Battalion Commander, Kabul, Afghanistan, August 2012 – July 2013

  • Contributed to the security in Afghanistan by leading 500+ troops from Turkish, Azerbaijani and Albanian military and Afghan civilian personnel in security operations.
  • Conducted security patrols, coordination with local forces, force protection of an 80-acre base.
  • Established educational programs for Afghan children (Language and Computer skills).
  • Coordinated the operations of security units, support and maintenance unit and a small hospital within the base (Camp Dogan) in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  • Decreased the number of incidents and resolved conflicts between differing views in multi-cultural international environment and established strong links between local communities and the military.
  • Built teams from diverse organizations with differing cultural backgrounds.

Force Development Staff Officer, Turkish Army, Ankara, Turkey, August 2010 – July 2012

  • Created the transformational roadmap by leading the team assigned for drafting the “Force -2050: Future Operational Environment and Force Structure Projection” document. The document was endorsed by Chief of the Army in 2012 and was used as a reference document in Army transformation efforts in 2013-2014.

Concept Development and Experimentation Staff Officer, NATO Allied Command Transformation, Norfolk, VA, August 2007 – July 2010

  • Improved the civil-military cohesion in operational domains by directing NATO’s Civil Military Fusion Center, led teams functioning across disciplines, which was comprised of civilian and military experts focusing on North East Africa and Afghanistan. The center managed and shared information related to the developments in these regions from civilian and military sources.
  • Accelerated the orientation of new members of NATO (Albania and Croatia) by training Albanian and Croatian officers as well as new NATO officers in concept development and experimentation areas in NATO School Oberammergau (Germany), Zagreb (Croatia) and Tirana (Albania).
  • Coordinated the engagement between concept development community and operational units in NATO exercises, deconflicted problems and provided seamless merge of experimentation and exercise efforts.
