MA in Applied Linguistics

I completed a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics with a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) emphasis in 2017. I was able to get experiences in many different subfields of linguistics (e.g. phonology, syntax, discourse analysis, first & second language acquisition). I conducted ethnographic interviews for the Tidewater Voices Project: Conversations in Southeastern Virginia, an oral history and dialect project about life in the Tidewater region, as well as other fieldwork projects. I also taught for a semester in the ODU English Language Center under a mentor. I have included coursework from many of the courses I completed during my graduate studies. Below is the reflective statement included in my graduation program portfolio.
